Our company name ‘Ho Tit’ is the the direct hokkien translation of the Chinese word ‘好的’
Running the show is 61-year-old Dominic Chua – youngest son of founder Chua Tock Hoon – together with his wife, Cynthia Aw. Having joined the family business right after he completed national service, Chua recalls: “I saw how hard my father worked. His skin was constantly covered with brown and yellow stains from contact with coffee beans. It made me feel very guilty”.
"好的"咖啡粉厂(Ho Tit Coffee Powder Factory)是由蔡篤雲老先生于五十年代初,在新加坡创立专营咖啡豆的烘焙与研磨。工厂则设在巴耶利峇路上段的原址一直营运至今。Ho Tit是"好的"的福建话音译,意思是"Good One"。
许多来自世界各地的朋友慕名前来参观并购买"好的"咖啡粉,並成为"啡尝好友"。
蔡老先生廿三㱑时,由于洪水冲垮了他在中國福建的店铺,同时也为了寻求更好的机会,就来到新加坡。在机缘的安排下,蔡老先生進了一家历史悠久的咖啡厂工作,学会了咖啡的烘焙与制作。由此奠定了日后开创自己的咖啡事业-《好的》。
蔡老先生的小儿子蔡忝臻于1985年加入了这家营企业。不幸的是蔡老先生在1988年
往生了,担子就交由弟弟与两个儿子一起继续经营。
叔叔与哥哥在2010年一起退休后,蔡忝臻和太太胡丽卿就正式接管了"好的"咖啡粉厂。为了延续及发扬光大这家族事业,他们都一直栽培小女儿蔡嫣钻,以成为"好的"第三代接班人。
"好的"咖啡粉厂通过坚持颇费人力的老式咖啡豆的烘焙制作方法,延续保畄着精制传统咖啡的原味。
从我们与常客的联系交流到最高品质的"好的"咖啡,通过我们做为一个让人们可以重游五十年代的南洋(马来西亚和新加坡),品尝当代风情的怀旧景点,以确保新加坡的咖啡传统得以传承。"好的"对咖啡品质的坚持、承诺与保证贯彻始终。
Our more than 70-year-old family-run coffee shop was passed down through the Chua family and we proudly present a blend of beans sourced from different corners of the globe (Asia and South America).
